Aviation Heritage
In 1982, at Lufthansa's request, Sennheiser developed the first active noise reduction audio headset for professional cockpit communications. Since then, working closely with pilots and airlines, Sennheiser has continued to develop new and innovative solutions for the aviation community. Major innovations in Sennheiser's aviation and ATC products include NoiseGard™, Noisegard™ / digital and ActiveGard™ active noise compensation as well as Peak Level Protection technology.
Technological Leadership
With Sennheiser's NoiseGard™ technology, miniature microphones pick up ambient noise and electronics calculate the anti-noise required. This means that the headphones eliminate most of the particularly disturbing low-frequency noise, such as engine roar or wind noise. This technology has undergone further developments over the past few years. The NoiseGard function can reduce ambient noise by up to 90% at the push of a button, enabling pilots to experience clear and controlled communications in air traffic and helping to reduce stress levels and fatigue.
S1 Digital
Sennheiser’s newest flagship product, the S1 DIGITAL aviation headset represents the pinnacle of actively listening to pilot’s demands and incorporates the latest in digital technology. Featuring NoiseGard™ / digital noise compensation and excellent passive noise attenuation, the headset is currently the only one on the market that provides optimum protection against cockpit noise over the broadest frequency range. The S1 DIGITAL has been designed for use in noisy one- and two-engine propeller aircraft and helicopters.
Whether flying jet, propeller turbine, or piston aircraft, all kinds of demands are made on headsets used in cockpits and Sennheiser understands those demands. Voices should be broadcast clearly, external noise screened out effectively and the headsets must remain comfortable for continuous wear over lengthy periods. Above all, they must always operate faultlessly and every pilot can rest assured that their comfort and safety is top priority while flying with a Sennheiser headset.
