The Communications Committee is comprised of NAFI members with expertise in various forms of communications including WEB, print and electronic communications, telephone and emerging technology. This committee will assist in developing and effectuating NAFI communications of NAFI’s vision, knowledge, information and community to our members and to the aviation community at large. This committee will be composed of NAFI members under the direction of a Board Member liaison. Goals of NAFI Communications Committee:
Suggested areas of interest NAFI GOVERNMENT RELATIONS COMMITTEE The Government Relations Committee supports the Board Government Relations committee in its efforts to: Influence the activities of government agencies, especially the FAA, to maximize the effectiveness of instructors and aviation educators to improve aviation safety; to ensure government agencies, address the needs of instructors and aviation educators in the areas of accreditation, professional development, and recognition. Members may be called upon to represent NAFI at various government and industry meetings. Responsibilities of the Government Relations Committee: The Government Relations Committee will be assigned tasks by the Board Committee. It will meet electronically (or real time if authorized) perform tasks assigned by the Board Committee. It will conduct research, establish government contacts and support completion of tasks. The Board Government Relations committee will seek to proactively influence government officials to initiate rulemaking and other actions which enhance the role of instructors and aviation educators in aviation safety and flight operations. It will do this by participation in forums, meetings, and other events where NAFI presence is likely to affect outcomes, in relation to the resources invested and by providing comments and other support, as required, on selected rulemakings, document reviews, and other activities where NAFI involvement is likely to influence outcomes, in relation to the resources invested. The NAFI Government Relations Committee serves as a mechanism to complete tasks assigned by the Government Relations- Board Committee and serve as a source of expertise to advise the Board committee on government relations issues. Immediate goals for Government Relations Committee The Programs – Member Committee is a member committee that puts the “local” face on NAFI. It does this through a number of channels and opportunities. The Programs - Member Committee assists the Programs – Board Committee in determining member needs, interests and desires and assists in developing, coordinating and conducting these programs and offerings. Responsibilities of the Programs Committee:
The Programs – Members Committee is the committee that “ties it all together”. It will, ultimately, be the focal point of much of NAFI’s activities and opportunities for participation by its members. This committee will help the Programs – Board Committee develop programs available from NAFI and will provide the equally important opportunities for NAFI’s members to provide service to NAFI and the aviation community at large. Accomplishing these responsibilities will require a new and different perspective on the part of NAFI leadership. The needed perspective is that NAFI’s main role isn’t to provide service to our members (even though that is still important), but rather to provide opportunities to our members to participate in NAFI activities and events. Immediate goals upon establishment: This committee will be comprised of members with significant education, experience and interest in marketing. It will serve as an “outside consultant” to NAFI’s Board and executive director to assist in the review of our marketing and subsequent development of a comprehensive marketing plan. It will develop metrics to allow evaluation of our marketing efforts Responsibilities of the Marketing – Member Committee: The Marketing – Membership Committee will serve as an advisory group to the Board Committee and to the full Board for the purpose of developing and then maintaining a coordinated marketing plan and marketing effort. The Professional Standards – Member Committee will help administer the Master Instructor program and perform reviews of MCFI application packages. In conjunction with the Board Committee, it will explore and develop additional professional accreditations that set standards different from the Master Instructor; Immediate goals for completion by year-end 2007: The Professional Standards – Member Committee was activated April 22, 2007 and is currently seeking additional members.
