March 11th 2018, Kalamazoo, MI -The National Association of Flight Instructors named two new members to its Board of Directors, and reelected officers at its meeting over the weekend at its offices in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

"Please join me in welcoming new NAFI Board Members Paul Preidecker and Karen Kalishek. We're excited to the have their enthusiasm and expertise as part of the NAFI team," Bob Meder, NAFI Board Chair, said.

"Many of you may have met Paul during his outreach efforts on behalf of his employer, Air Wisconsin, at a variety of aviation venues, including AirVenture. He recently participated in a NAFI MentorLIVE broadcast, and had an article in the last issue of  Mentor magazine. We're looking forward to his input about improving flight training as well as his insights into how best to integrate that part of the instructor community that is on airline or corporate career paths," Meder said.

"Many of you have also met and worked with Karen at the EAA AirVenture Pilot Proficiency Center, where she worked tirelessly to coordinate instructors and pilots during the event. Her enthusiasm and skills in working with volunteers, along with her extensive aviation experience, will be a great contribution to NAFI and to the aviation community as a whole."

Paul Preidecker has been a flight instructor for more than 25 years and is now the Chief Flight Instructor/Examiner for Air Wisconsin Airlines and manages its pilot training program. He has served as a member of a FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committee, and chairs the Flight Training Committee of the Regional Airline Association. He is active in the development of curriculum for its pilot training program and was involved in creating the curriculum for its ATP Certified Training Program.
 
Preidecker is a member of the Professional Development Committee for NAFI. He owned a company that specialized in developing and delivering seminars for GA pilots and was  VP of marketing for a company that manufactured biomedical instrumentation.

Karen Kalishek is a CFI, CFII, MEI, CFI-G, AGI, IGI, NAFI Master Instructor and  FAASTeam Lead Representative. She holds an ATP certificate and has ASES and Glider Commercial privileges. She has held officer positions in and is actively involved with several aviation organizations.  She is also a captain in the Civil Air Patrol, serving as a CAP volunteer flight instructor, check pilot, mission pilot and cadet orientation pilot. She is an independent flight instructor, has a particular fondness for antique aircraft and enjoys spending quality time with her RV-6.

Before becoming a full-time flight instructor, she was an executive in the banking industry, taught graduate school, and as president of her own corporation spent over 20 years providing international consulting services in 37 countries.

At the meeting at its offices at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, the NAFI Board also reelected Bob Meder as chairman, Rick Todd as president, Carl Fry as secretary and Jim MacKay as treasurer.
