CFI Publication, E-Updates and Flying Magazine Now Included in NAFI Member Benefits Package

NAFI HEADQUARTERS, Oshkosh, Wis. — A publication aimed directly at flight instructors, electronic newsletters and a subscription to America’s top newsstand aviation magazine are among the new benefits available to members of the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI).

These benefits, available exclusively to NAFI members, offer a broad spectrum of information to flight instructors exactly where they need it — in training students. NAFI is producing a monthly publication, titled Mentor, for all members. NAFI members who have e-mail can access E-Mentor every two weeks. All members will also receive a complimentary subscription to FLYING Magazine, the world’s most widely read aviation publication

"We asked NAFI members what they wanted in their membership and they overwhelmingly agreed that more pertinent information was their top priority," said Sean Elliott, NAFI Executive Director. "These benefits make a NAFI membership even more valuable to anyone who teaches other people to fly. The best place for flight instructors who care about their vocation and their students with the other professional flight instructors in NAFI."

Mentor, a 16-page monthly publication, premiered in April 1999. It was created specifically to address the opportunities and challenges flight instructors face. Edited by renowned aviation journalist Scott Spangler, Mentor includes technical information, regulation updates, and insights into the fundamentals of instruction and much more.

Among the contributing writers in Mentor are such instruction notables as Greg Brown, NAFI’s first Master CFI and author of The Savvy Flight Instructor, and J.C. Boylls, the 1998 National Flight Instructor of the Year.

All NAFI members will also receive a complimentary subscription to FLYING through a special arrangement with that publication. This subscription, a $26 value, is the perfect match to the technical flight instruction contained in Mentor.

"NAFI members realize that better pilots are created through the best instruction available," Elliott said. "By receiving this information through their NAFI membership, flight instructors can enhance their own abilities and produce students ready to fully appreciate the joys and challenges of flying."

NAFI membership ($39 per year) is open to any flight instructor. Membership is available by calling 800-843-3612, through the NAFI website (www.nafinet.org) or by sending a check or money order to NAFI, PO Box 3065, Oshkosh WI 54903-3086.

NAFI was founded in 1967 and is dedicated to raising and maintaining the professional standing of flight instructors throughout the nation, as well as providing a safe and effective learning situation for students. In addition, NAFI initiates education and support programs throughout the aviation industry. The organization affiliated with EAA in May 1995.
